New England Part IV

New England Part III of the trip was magical, but we still had one more destination to go.

We made sure our last leg of our trip ended on a high.  So we stayed at the Ritz and let Philadelphia pamper us a bit.  The kids made out like bandits as they both got special treat bags and a scavenger hunt which led to more treats for them at the end of the night.  Natalie said she wanted to stay for a month! Wishful thinking kid!

Philly had a few things we were interested in seeing that we could walk to so we did just that!  We got to see the Liberty Bell, walk by Betsy Ross’ house, stumbled into a street festival, saw Ben Franklin’s grave and finally strolled down Elfreth’s Alley which we learned people still live in these homes!  How cool!! Our afternoon exploring was fun, but it was time to get back and enjoy dinner back at the hotel.

How freakin’ cool are these pumpkins?!

Before we headed to the airport, we had two final things to accomplish.  First up, Rocky reenactment!

And we couldn’t leave without checking out Pat’s and Geno’s Philly cheesesteak.  OMG.  What a treat! So, so good.  Lillian, Matt & I really liked Pat’s but Natalie was a clear Geno’s fan.  We’re all still dreaming of these sandwiches.

And just like that our whirlwind adventure was over.  7 cities, 6 states and 2,317 miles of air and ground travel all in 3.5 days.  We had fun, we got tired, we snapped at each other a few times but most of all we got to experience a part of the world together and that’s priceless in my book.
