It’s not lost on us that South Carolina has a complex past, especially, their part in our slavery history. It’s important to Matt and me that we show the kids the good and the bad so we make a point to showcase where our past was less than humane. Touring the Old Slave Market and seeing that part of history come to life was a humbling experience. It’s hard to believe that was ever part of our world.
We spent a little more time exploring and taking in what Charleston had to offer. A neat area was our hotel itself. It was a boutique art hotel so we had a mini museum like experience. It was actually a lot of fun exploring it.
It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t take advantage of an opportunity to take some portraits! ;)
