Pacific Northwest Part I

It’s been a long time but we finally got back to traveling.  COVID, my dad, moving and just life has kept us from adventuring.  We took on the Pacific Northwest this time.  Starting out in Seattle where we quickly fell in love with the food, the vibe and the walk-ability of the city.  Perfect place to get our fit back in the traveling game.

We stayed at an Airbnb apartment which gave us just enough room to feel together but not on top of each other.  We came in a bit late in the evening but that didn’t keep us from venturing out and getting some late night snacks right around the corner.

The next morning we woke up to sunshine, which we didn’t expect but it set the tone for the day.

First up, Pike’s Place.  I have known about this place long before I ever wanted to visit Seattle.  When I worked at Cox, the VP there provided everyone a copy of this book and it’s based from the fish market at Pike’s Place.  However, I didn’t expect it to be such a cool place.  We got up early and spent the majority of the morning walking our way through it before the crowds gathered.

After our strolls, we did a bit of restaurant hopping.

One of the coolest things that Seattle has is the gum wall.  It’s literally art and for some reason you aren’t even disgusted with it, just in awe.  We did keep our distance from it from cootie safety but dang, so cool. we did our part to add to the art as well.  Fun fact, they have to scrape these walls bare once a year.

On the way back we saw a store with a Spanish flag and had to stop. We made one of the best decisions of our life by getting some jamón ibérico which is like salty, delicious cotton candy.  OH MY GOODNESS.  We slowly ate it through our trip to enjoy every bite of it.

Only a short few hours back at the Airbnb and we were back at it!  First another delicious food experience.

Then, an Improv!  Now that was a fun experience.  It’s been a long time since I’ve laughed this hard!  At the end, the kids were able to get a picture with the actors!

and we found our gum!

As I mentioned, Seattle is super walkable so we enjoyed a little bit more of the night life as we walked back to the apartment.

The next day, we ate a quick breakfast of some of the goodies we picked up at Pike’s Place and headed back out to explore.  Next stop, the Space Needle.
