Lillian’s Wax Museum

So the 5th graders had a great activity where they picked a historical character, researched them, created a presentation board, and wrote a 1-2 minute speech that they presented to us while dressed in character.  The kids lined their 5th grade hall and stood like a statue until a passerby pressed their button (which they also made) to make them come alive.  Then they each acted out their speech and went back to statue mode upon finishing.  They did so well!  I was super proud and you could tell each of them had put so much effort into the overall presentation.  Best part is, they did this all at school so it truly was their efforts and work without parental influence.

Lillian was a child labor worker and a quick trip to Goodwill, some dirt, a few cuts to the dress and she looked the part.  Probably one of the coolest, interactive activities I’ve seen the school put on.
