Bye, Bye Hair

I decided to grow out my hair a few years ago for a single purpose, get it long enough to donate.  I finally felt like it was there and on 11.1, Matt and the girls joined me for the big event.  After tying my hair up in sections, one by one they were cut off.  I will tell you that it was harder than I expected it to be.  This was something I was choosing to do and the loss was still felt.  I can’t imagine not having that choice which made my donation more impactful. I chose to donate it to Wigs for Kids as they partner with the Children’s Leukemia Foundation to supply wigs to children going through chemo.  If this is something you are considering doing, I would highly recommend doing your homework on where to donate.  You may be surprised by the more common choices and their policies.  This is the one I felt best met my needs for donating.  I hope it makes a little girl feel a little more like herself during some big, not so great, experiences in their current journey. I’m still getting used to the sudden loss of over 12 inches of hair but it’s slowly growing on me and I proud of myself for going through it.  Time to start working on regrowing it! :)

I took the first picture below the weekend before the big cut to remind myself of the present I gave.  A little piece of me, to make another’s life a little brighter.
