2012 Year of Projects #3

Gotta love tax season and tax return time!  Matt never wastes even a moment in getting our taxes done and sent off so we can have our return as soon as possible.  Each year we do something big to the house with our return and this year was no different.  I’ve been wanting a new washer and dryer for a while and we went for it.  Seeing how this is the year of projects and we’re looking and evaluating each room, we decided to give the laundry room a makeover too.  So off we went to our favorite store, Lowe’s and picked up some paint.

We ordered our washer and dryer from Home Depot and since they were delivering them on Saturday we had to do our project during the week.  First we started with getting the walls ready for a new coat of paint

I would have taken some before, before pictures but we were so eager to get started we kind of forgot! ;)  Anyway, as you can see we had a gray purple color on the walls and though I still very much like the color we’re moving to a new direction in the house and wanted to update the look to something a little more sophisticated as you can see here.

The stripes turned out awesome and it gives this small room something interesting! Once the walls were painted we started to put the finishing touches.  Matt made us a roman shade for the window, we got new hooks to hang up our items and of course our shining stars are our new washer and dryer!  I’ve already put them to good use!  If you are thinking of getting a front load, definitely do.  I was impressed how fast I was able to get the laundry done and dry!

Project #3 was a total success!  Next project will either be the kitchen or computer room/hallway.  Matt says we need to slow down some so I’ll give it another week before I start pushing the subject again :)
