Dentist Visit!

We’ve been talking about her dentist visit since I went last time, trying to get her on board with the idea.  At first she wanted nothing to do with it and we had to stop talking about it because she would randomly say I don’t want to go to the the dentist I don’t want to!  Well, I told her the day before that she was going and she was a little hesitant.  I decided to show her what she could expect so we looked online at what the visit would look like and she started getting a little more comfortable.

When I dropped her off at school the day of the appt I told the teacher that I would be picking her up early to take her to the dentist and the teacher had such excitement in her voice that Lillian started to get excited! That afternoon, when I picked her up, she had told the whole class where she was going and she was so looking forward to it.  Yay me!

We walked in and it was my turn first.  She watched and watched me.  She would come by and caress my hair to make sure I was OK and would laugh any time they had to suck the water out of my mouth.  She seemed to be doing pretty good.  When I was all finished it was her turn and she didn’t seem interested.

Lillian kept saying I don’t want to, I don’t want to!  Well the hygienist made it all kinds of fun for her.  She asked her to get in the "rocket chair", gave her sunglasses to keep the bright light out and everything.  She had a smile the whole time!  After it was all done she got her prize for being the best patient of the day.

She’s already talking about her next visit!  Gotta love people that are good with kids!
