Strawberry Patch

We visited Akers of Strawberries this weekend with a our friends and their little girl.  We picked, ate, and walked around the patch for a little under an hour.  When we weighed our basket, we had over 2.5 pounds of juicy, red strawberries for our enjoyment.  I think the girls ate more strawberries than they put in the basket, but honestly we all did!

The patch is about 15 minutes from the house off the main road of an adjacent town.  It wasn’t crowded, which I was thankful for because it gave us plenty of area to walk by ourselves.  The place was well kept and the people there were quite friendly.  They even had a place inside to sit and enjoy some ice cream to cool down after picking.

The weather really worked in our favor on Saturday.  It was mostly overcast which made it perfect for picking since the clouds kept the warm sun off of us. This is something we’ll definitely do every year, and probably again this year! I guess we need to find out how long strawberries stay in season!

Check the tidbits section to see what we decided to make with our strawberries.
