Pumpkin Carving

We went to the grocery store this weekend and Lillian picked out her pumpkin!  When we got it home Matt and Lillian went to work.  Lillian was very enthusiastic, and wanted to help do it all, until it was time to scoop out the seeds.  One handful and she was done.  She looked at her hand in disgust and said, “I need a napkin, please” but Matt coached her to keep grabbing and she did, one seed at a time.

Once the seeds were out and on the cookie tray for baking, it was time to carve.  Matt carved out the pieces and Lillian took them out.  Once they were all out she decided that the pumpkin pieces were actually puzzle pieces and wanted to put them back on, so she did.

Most families would put a tea light or something similar in the pumpkin, but not us.  Matt being our tech geek in the house programmed a microcontroller (It’s a boarduino – Matt) to make an LED light pattern and now we have a light source that changes through all the primary and secondary colors.
