Lillian’s Hearing Test

Lillian was very cooperative this morning for her hearing exam.  We met with Dr. Skinner at 9am and were put in a small room by ourselves.  Dr. Skinner would play a sound from one direction to see if Lillian would look in the direction of the noise.  I wasn’t allowed to help or move my head so it made it for an interesting test.  Lillian passed with flying colors.  He said she does have some fluid there so it distorts her hearing a little but even with that she has above normal hearing so after the fluid is drained he thinks her hearing is going to be excellent.

Lillian was a little concerned at first to see these two "puppets" keep coming to life but after a while she thought it was funny and would point and say "mommy rabbit" or "mommy I see a bear".  At one point the doctor would talk into a microphone and she would have to turn to face the noise.  Well towards the end she noticed it was him talking and wouldn’t turn to the noise she would just stare at him.  He thought it was very clever of her.

We are still scheduled for her ear tube surgery next Thursday.  I can’t wait to see how it affects her.  From everyone I speak to they say it is a wonderful thing.  I hope we’re one of the fortunate ones this surgery helps.
