The next morning we got up fairly early and grabbed breakfast before starting our drive down Loess Hills and beyond. This was our main driving day, so we made sure to plan breaks along the way. We stopped at La Juanita, and the breakfast burritos did not disappoint. They were huge and definitely filling enough to gear us up for the morning.
We made it to Loess Hills, which is pronounced like “bus,” and stopped at a few spots along the way. It was beautiful. I loved the crisp air, the quiet, and the views that stretched for miles. We did a short hike before continuing the drive to the lookout, and holy lookout, it was so high. Since it was still early in the season, we did not get to see the fall colors in full, but it was beautiful nonetheless.
Afterward, we continued our drive to the Strategic Air Museum. We planned a good amount of time there so we would not have to rush Matt as he explored all the planes, space exhibits, and history. It turned out we did not need quite as long as we thought, but it was still a lot of fun.
We made it to the hotel with plenty of time to settle in and get ready for the evening. The hotel happened to be the birthplace of the Reuben sandwich, so of course that was part of dinner. Yum! The bar was a nice little break too, giving Matt and me a small date before the play.
We went to see Grease, and honestly, it was just okay. The highlight was seeing an older couple dressed up as a Pink Lady and a Thunderbird, and later, as we waited for our Uber, spotting the most random person dressed as Wednesday Addams. It has been a while since we have seen Lillian laugh that hard.
