DC Metro Part I – Baltimore

We took our usual late night flight and landed in Baltimore pretty late. Dinner ended up being delivery to the hotel, and the four of us sat on the floor eating before crashing for the night.

The next morning we jumped right into exploring. We had the best breakfast at Miss Shirleys.  Great way to get our energy going. We walked around the Inner Harbor, which was beautiful, and quickly realized that Baltimore is very walkable, so there was no need for a car that first day. From there, we meandered through Little Italy, soaking up the neat vibe, and even stumbled across the birthplace of the Star Spangled Banner. Unfortunately, nothing was open yet, so we just walked the blocks and enjoyed the history from the outside.

Our next stop was Patterson Park for a stroll, where the ducks ended up stealing the show. After that, we headed to the Ministry of Brewing. This place was incredible. They transformed an old church into a brewery. Even though all the religious artifacts were gone, the building still felt like a church, complete with pews for seating. Such a creative way to reuse a space.

We grabbed some seafood before heading back into town. Matt ordered raw oysters at Phillips, and both kids agreed to try them, though only Lillian actually followed through. Back at the hotel, we got ready for our play, “A Comedy of Errors, Hon!” that evening. The show was all about Baltimore, random but so fun, and we even learned a Baltimore Christmas song. To top it off, we snapped a picture with one of the lead cast members, which made for the perfect ending to the day.
