This place makes my heart so freakin’ happy. We stayed a little longer and actually got a cottage on the beach. It was the most relaxed I’ve been in a really, really long time. This is my little piece of paradise and I think the rest of the crew felt the same way. This was the first time there for my parents and I’m pretty sure they’ll be back!
First stop was Uvalda to visit the smallest little police department ever. It had one cell. It makes me happy.
We got to the general area before it was time to check in so we headed to St. Simon’s for lunch and a little site seeing
And then we went across this magnificently, beautiful bridge. We saw it last time we came and we knew, that this time, we’d make a point to drive across.
We made it! Nothing beats having your own little cottage with this amazing view. A bit of unpacking and we were settling in quite nicely.
First dip in the ocean, and it was glorious. The tide on our side of the beach was super low in the early morning and early evening. From noon to about 7, the waves were crashing onto the rocks. Super surreal to walk on the beach hours after it was hitting the tops of the rocks. Each day, we’d do our morning and evening walk. Best part, there was nobody around. It felt like we had this little place all to ourselves.
Pit stop again to visit the remains of the Horton house
Then back to relaxing and enjoying our deck and view!
Early morning rise to driftwood beach to watch the sunrise and walk the beach
Fed our little friendly squirrel friends
A little bit of relaxing before our fancy dinner out.
And then off to the other side of the island to walk on water. At least that’s the way it felt. The water parted oddly and you could walk FOREVER into the ocean. It was strangely amazing
Overall, it was a high exercise, super relaxing trip. Lots of food, laughter, great accommodations and even better company! Until next time Jekyll Island. I will miss you.
