We keep an eye out on Groupons in our area since they tend to be a great way to venture out and try something without overspending. This time we got tickets to Bodies and Extreme Dinosaurs. First, Atlantic Station is awesome! It’s just so pretty and full of great stores. I would highly recommend it for a day trip! We started off with Extreme Dinosaurs and it didn’t disappoint. The girls loved the enormous animatronics dinosaurs. They have ones you can interact with and make parts of them move. They also have a little digging exhibition so you can act as archaeologists! Staying true to our adventures, the girls ended the event with a special gift, this time they both decided on dinosaur poop candy. Luckily, it tasted like root beer, but it was still a little odd.
On the other side of the event was Bodies. You aren’t allowed to take pictures and honestly, I don’t think they would provide enough justice to just how amazing the exhibit is. Seeing the inner workings of the human makeup is incredible. These are real people, up close and personal. I’ve never seen anything like this and I hope I can someday visit the other exhibits around the world for this event. The girls were just as fascinated with it as we were. At first they giggled a little seeing “boy” parts but they quickly adjusted and saw the awe in the event. Natalie loved the audio part and listened to every word with such inventiveness. The one part that I thought they may cringe at was the embryo section. We warned them of what they were going to see and they both agreed they could handle it. They agreed that was the best part of the whole thing. Their special memento from Bodies? Little stuffed cells representing “the kissing disease” for Natalie and “the common cold” for Lillian.
We headed to The Yard House for lunch, but not before making a pit stop at It’s Sugar, this amazing candy store. I wish I had a picture of my face when we turned the corner and I saw it. My jaw dropped, and it was visible since the store clerk immediately smiled at me. Yeah I think I was more excited than the girls! The Yard House was really good. Service and food was great. A must return for sure! Last stop was Kilwins for some ice cream. YUM!
If we didn’t already have enough of an adventure, we ended the day at Fern Bank. We wanted to hit up the Goosebumps exhibit before it was gone. Love our season passes! Bonus, last week of the exhibit means that their store is also on sale. Yup, it worked out well.
