We redid Lillian’s room a few weeks ago to a more grown up space. She fell in love with the bedding sometime earlier this year and we collected items the last few months until we had everything we needed to get her room ready. Two days of work later and we had it done! We repainted her room from a soft lime green to a purple grey and after some debating she decided she wanted her "trees" back but in teal.
After lots of cleaning and re-organizing she now has a very open, low clutter space to call her own. We still have artwork we need to paint and pictures we need to put in frames but that’ll come later! Her favorite part of all I’ve noticed is her new bedding. I decided to not get her the cute kid sheets and went with the same brand sheet we have on our bed. She LOVES her sheets! The kid melts into bed now.
We got rid of her bed skirt and made her a tutu skirt for her bed. The best part of this, since it’s attached to her bed support, is it won’t move and get out of place when we make her bed! Super bonus for me since it drove me nuts trying to keep the old one in place! She got a new message board too. This is the 3rd time we’ve recovered it. If we keep that up, the board is going to grow to take up the wall!
A few other things we did were moving out her kitchen, putting up a new zebra print curtain with a matching tutu to hold it in place and updating her hooks for her weekly outfits. The kitchen is in the attic now but we’re planning on making a playhouse this Spring and we’ll be able to utilize it then. We had some leftover tulle and didn’t want it to go to waste so we placed some on the top of her curtain rod for a little extra flair.
The hooks are my favorite part of the room as it keeps me organized all week; both the girls have the same set up. Each week I hang up their clothes, and every morning we know what they are wearing and gets us done with our morning routine that much faster. We did add new hardware and raised the hooks up since her clothes were starting to hang too low which wasn’t cool since it covered up her nightlight. We’d have to move her clothes to the first hook each night. Now the outfits can stay intact.
Overall, I think it looks beautiful and she’s a happy camper in her new space! Hopefully, we have a good 5 years with this new look! I know Matt hopes so! ;)
