We made it to the strawberry patch again! Usually, the time sneaks up on us when we realize it’s that time, but not this year. I have been wanting to go for 3 weeks! ;) Just like last year, we headed out on Sunday afternoon to do our pickings. Unlike last year though, there wasn’t a plentiful supply of amazing strawberries. We scoured the field for the very best and sometimes settled for the OK ones. They were slow to grow this year and with the rain we had the previous day we had a good combination of not yet there strawberries and some muddy sections. All and all everyone enjoyed themselves. I think we picked around 8.5 lbs this year and I am sure the girls ate a pound each if not more while we were out there finding the berries!
When we got home we got to work with our process of washing, cutting and packaging our loot! Sticking with traditon, we made strawberry shortcakes again. I gotta say, that might be the only reason I enjoy picking them so much! I think the strawberries love us too, because when we cut into one it had this little shape in the middle.
Coincidence? I think not.
