Sometimes thing just work out and this is one of those times. Natalie had a beautiful room with a great crib and all the right things for a baby room. The only problem was that she was NEVER in there. She still sleeps in the playpen next to our bed. Now, that’s a step up from Lillian sleeping in our bed but nonetheless, she’s not in her room. When we heard of one of the daycare teacher’s friend in need of some items we felt it was time to let go of all that stuff and move her up to a big girl bed. This way we could have a "guest" room if we needed it instead of a pretty crib with no baby in it!
So we got all the stuff packed up and without any emotion from me we let it go. Now Lillian was a different story. She didn’t like it at all that we were getting rid of her baby sister’s items! She cried quite a bit at the loss. We kept trying to tell her that Natalie would have something else but that didn’t seem to ease the pain her little heart was feeling at that moment. Since this transition wasn’t planned, we had not gone looking for a replacement item until that day. Luckily for us, and why I said this seemed to just work out, I went on to Craigslist and I found her bed! It was perfect, the price was perfect and the fact that they would deliver it to us was perfect!
Just again, to reiterate how well things played out for this, the person picking up all the baby items arrived at the exact same time the person delivering the new bed arrived! No joke, they were fighting for driveway space! So without much time to dwell on the old we received the new item for her room! These are the times when Matt’s need to finish something makes me really happy because right after they left we headed to buy her mattresses and when we got home from that adventure he went to work to put the bed together and add the mattresses! Saturday morning Lillian and I went shopping for Natalie’s bedding and everything worked out perfectly and I seriously don’t think I could have planned it any better.
When Lillian and I got home from shopping began our first ever decoupage project on a step stool to match Natalie’s new bedspread. Matt, my handyman in so many areas, sewed me some new pillow covers for her bed. So by 2pm at the latest Natalie’s room was transformed to her big girl room! Without further ado, here are some pictures of her awesome new bed.
It’s a daybed with a pop up trundle so with the two mattreses we can have a king size bed!

I think Natalie has spent more time in her new bed just playing and hanging out than she ever did in her crib! Soon, I hope, the girls can sleep in the same bed to get Natalie used to the idea of a bed, but until then we have a guest room…. with a door!
