And it’s totally cool! I have a few photos of it just to show off. But before we get to my birthday present, I want to talk about the birthday itself a little first.
First of all, we both took the day off from work (since Monday’s a holiday, we get a nice four day weekend). The day started with waking up and just lounging in bed while Barbara and Lillian made cinnamon rolls. Then they brought the rolls in for breakfast in bed – and there were candles! :) After that, it was mostly me playing with my Kindle.
We did go out late morning and check out a store downtown (an interesting, but overpriced, toy store) and ate lunch at Taco Bell (not going back there – the service was slow and the portions were skimpy). Barbara went back out later to buy us dinner, because I wanted to have fried chicken for my birthday meal. Originally we were going to make it, but then we got lazy. ;)
On to the photos! The first one shows my Kindle in it’s leather case – I got the one Amazon makes since the Kindle is an Amazon device (I figured it would fit best).
This one shows what the Kindle looks like with a vinyl ‘skin’ on it (I wanted it dark, not the default off-white it is). It’s also a good example of the ‘screensaver’ images the Kindle displays when it’s in sleep mode.
Here’s the last image I have. This is a pretty good comparison of the Kindle screen to the LCD of our desktop. It’s the Kindle screen that makes it such a cool device. It really is just like reading paper (I’d compare it to newsprint myself).
