I had read about amigurumi online, and I thought it would be fun to try. Yesterday, we went to get some craft things (I’m sure Barbara will be posting about that) and I ended up buying some yarn. Then we checked out a discount book store nearby, and they had an amigurumi book for $2.99. Of course, I had to get it and try it out.
My first amigurumi was a puppy doll. I used some yarn I had from last winter when I was making hats for everyone, and created the head and body. Then I made the arms, legs and ears with a light yellow. Lillian picked out the blue for the eyes (I didn’t mean to make them different shapes, it just kind of happened). The entire thing took about 5 hours to make today.
Cute though, isn’t it? The doll is about 6 inches tall and the big head is about 3 inches across. Overall, it fits comfortably in an adult hand – or nicely in a kids arms.
